01.  WORD FROM THE DIRECTOR

On behalf of the Board of Directors, I wish to extend my kind request to all our prayer partners and well wishers for your prayer and support towards the equipping and smooth running of The Bridge way Hope Academy (BHA) And The Bridge way Hope Home (BHH) for the less privileged children in western Kenya.

The condition and the environment of the Orphans and destitute in Kenya is so pathetic that it surely calls for concerned efforts from Gods people globally to assist. As Christians, we are duty bound to heed to this call by giving any kind of assistance as we offer hope to the hopeless and the dying world. We at the Bridge way have taken the sickles in our hands by faith in readiness to show the acts of compassion Just like Jesus did. May the Lord God bless you abundantly as you stand with us in this noble cause.

02.  INTRODUCTION

The Bridge way Hope Academy is a center for the less privileged children, which was set up by the New Hope Christian Center in webuye Kenya. This is a mature fruit of a vision born in Rev. Jonathan Eric Mudenyo heart in 1998 after seeing and coming in contact with destitute children from very poor families and Orphans that were not capable of providing their basic education and care, the big question became, “ How can we help these children and give them hope for the future? As an answer to this big question, Bridge way hope Academy was set up in January 2003 to give hope to the destitute child.

03.  AIMS (why Bridge way Exists)

1.      To identify the destitute and Orphaned children in the community with an aim of providing their basic needs e.g. clothes and food

2.      To provide basic education to the less fortunate and un educated children

3.      To provide basic medical attention and care to the need child.

4.      To provide a home for the homeless and orphaned child, where close attention and care is provided.

5.      To provide a home which will engender Christian atmosphere and instill Christian values in order to rise up a God conscious society.

PS. 4 & 5 are yet to be realized in setting up of the Hope Home. Our Orphans are still living with some members of the Church.

04.  TARGET GROUP (Age 3 – 15 years)

a.       The destitute child – one who is needy and without hope of turning the education and home care into reality.

b.      The Orphan – The child who doesn’t have parents and guardians to look up to for counsel advice and direction.

c.       The needy child – the child who doesn’t have the basic provision and care of life e.g. clothes, food and love in a home set up.

PS. Most of the children are destitute orphan and/or needy due to HIV/Aids pandemic, tribal clashes (strife) experienced at the advent of multi-party political system in Kenya some ten years ago and others from normal loss of guardians/parents through death. As in January 2004 the student membership of the bridge way academy stands at:

Orphans 17

Destitute 19

Poor and needy 24

05.  TARGET AREA

Our target catchments area is Webuye town environs and its suburbs in western Kenya.

06.  PROJECTED PLANS

a.       Short term – to provide/source for desks, Rent, teaching aids e.g. books, pens, Chalk, food, play things,  clinical and first Aid kit. (Three to six months)

b.      Mid term – source for two extra teachers and teacher’s salaries (6months to 1year).

c.       Long term – to acquire land and set up the HOPE HOME for the orphans, destitute and the homeless (2 – 3 years) also to acquire and set up classrooms and hostels for Bridge Way Hope Academy.

07.  THE MAIN CHALENGES 2003 – 2005

a.       Lack of own school and administration blocks – the school currently operates from a rental facility, which is expensive to service and maintain.

b.      Lack of sufficient playing ground for games and other recreational activities.

c.       Limited number of teachers has resulted in much workload and more students to attend to more than they are capable of.

d.      Insufficient food and stationery supplies.

e.
